AMC Health Launches New Telehealth IVR Monitoring Solutions with eviCore healthcare and Other Customers to Help Assess, Monitor, and Triage COVID-19 Patients At-Home
AMC Health, the leading provider in telehealth and remote patient monitoring (RPM) technology, today announced that its expanded and longstanding relationship with eviCore healthcare (eviCore) will include new interactive voice response (IVR) solutions designed to help assess, monitor, and triage support for patients who are living with underlying conditions and at the greatest risk of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and respiratory symptoms. In addition to AMC’s ongoing telehealth services for hospitals, health plans, and veterans, launching and expanding these solutions will proactively ensure that high-risk patients can be monitored at-home.
With the immediate focus on reducing the spread of COVID-19 also comes the need for better care at home, along with contingency planning to manage capacity issues and premature discharges implemented to free-up ICU beds in hospitals.
“AMC Health is working together with eviCore to provide their client partners with IVR capabilities that include IVR surveys for their health plan patient populations with symptom-based questions and educational content. This will help assess patients and reduce the strain on hospitals and health teams to better manage the surge of emergency-room and capacity strains as COVID-19 continues to rapidly escalate,” said Nesim Bildirici, CEO of AMC Health.
AMC Health’s telehealth IVR solutions are deployed quickly and at scale for those living with chronic conditions and underlying conditions. As millions are sheltering at home, AMC and eviCore are providing a menu of COVID-19 solutions to help patients stay connected to their providers and nurses.
“Working together is how we will win this war on COVID-19. AMC’s IVR-only solutions help us to easily and effectively work with their patient population to assess those at-risk of COVID-19 while they are quarantined and chronically ill. And, should the need arise where more comprehensive RPM services are needed with at-home peripherals devices, it’s great to know that AMC is ready to go,” said Corrine McKeever, RN, BSN, Senior Director, Clinical Operations with eviCore healthcare.

Adherium submits US FDA 510(k) application for next generation Hailie® sensor with physiological measures
Melbourne, Australia – 1 June 2021: Adherium Limited (ASX: ADR), a leader in respiratory eHealth, remote monitoring and data management solutions, today announced submission to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of a 510(k) clearance to market application for its first next generation Hailie® sensor with physiological measures for monitoring Asthma and COPD medication use.
Adherium’s latest Hailie® sensor, designed for use with AstraZeneca’s Symbicort® aerosol inhaler, is the first in a series of devices specifically designed to enable physicians and providers to enhance patient care and clinical workflow by capturing clinical data and supporting patient management. This addition to the Hailie® range of products will allow access to reimbursement in the US for the remote monitoring of patients. “This is an important step in the extension of our digital respiratory management ecosystem. This latest development signals the start of Adherium’s next generation of sensors that capture physiological measures” said Geoff Feakes, Adherium’s Chief Technology Officer. “Clinicians globally have told us of the importance of building on our core adherence capability to extend the range of clinical data we capture and expand our market coverage of inhaled medications for Asthma and COPD. Physiological measures were consistently identified as a key data set to improve patient management and importantly, access reimbursement to enable the widest possible patient population to benefit from the technology. As part of Adherium’s market expansion we intend to release a further four new sensors with physiological measures over the next 18 months, taking our anticipated Asthma and COPD medication coverage in the US to over 80% by volume and supporting 18 medications.”
Roy A. Pleasants, PharmD, a clinical researcher at the University of North Carolina with extensive experience in pharmacology and aerosol drug delivery studies, shared his thoughts on this digital inhaler technology. “Gaps in medication adherence and proper inhaler technique persist today and continue to have a substantial impact on the lives of patients with chronic lung diseases. Studies in Asthma and COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) with digital inhalers show better outcomes by documenting adherence, especially if feedback is given to patients. While inhalers that electronically record each dose are valuable based on published research, the addition of inspiratory-capable sensors substantially improves the functionality of these devices by providing information on inhaler technique and measuring inhalational flows that could guide clinical care. Both clinical experience and additional research will provide further insights into the use of inspiratory-capable digital inhalers. I think this is one of the biggest steps forward in inhalational drug therapies in many years.”
Interest in telehealth and remote patient monitoring remains high, driven by a positive reimbursement environment in many regions and from the necessity to protect patients and healthcare systems during the COVID-19 pandemic. A number of healthcare systems, hospitals, commercial insurers and other ecosystem partners in the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the UK have made unsolicited approaches to Adherium looking to evaluate the Hailie® solution as part of their coverage of patients with respiratory disease (Asthma and COPD).

VitalConnect Adds Mobile Cardiac Telemetry to its Arsenal
The launch of the MCT platform puts VitalConnect in a league of its own.
When compared to other wearable providers, VitalConnect is in a ‘different category’ with the addition of its mobile cardiac telemetry offering.
The San Jose, CA-based company revealed the offering late last week saying it now is the only cardiac monitoring solution available with a flexible, programmable platform, covering multiple cardiac monitoring needs.
The VitalConnect system provides healthcare professionals full access to real-time patient information which is also analyzed by certified cardiac monitoring technicians through VitalConnect’s own independent diagnostic testing facility (IDTF).
The VitalPatch RTM uses a wireless low-energy Bluetooth connection to transfer clean, high-fidelity ECG signals to the secure VitalCloud during the monitoring period.
“We are now the only company that offers cardiac monitoring, that has a platform solution that encompasses all four modalities on one wearable,” Peter Van Haur, CEO of VitalConnect told MD+DI. “Our patch acts as a holter; it acts as an extended holter; it acts an event recorder; and it acts as a mobile cardiac telemetry system. The other vendors that offer the technology have to provide physicians’ offices or hospitals multiple devices for each of those different categories. We streamline everything into one simple patch and depending on the patient’s need we prescribe it as one of the four categories.”
VitalConnect found itself in a prominent position during the pandemic.
In April of 2020, VitalConnect earned an EUA from FDA for its VitalPatch to remotely monitor and detect QT interval changes in ECG for patients who are undergoing treatment in a hospital setting for COVID-19 with drugs that can prolong QT intervals.
And in November the company launched its VitalPatch RTM cardiac monitoring solution for patients who require extended Holter monitoring. It monitors for 21 cardiac arrhythmias through AI-based ECG analysis and captures vital signs data.
“COVID-19 put remote patient monitoring squarely on the map in terms of its importance,” Van Haur said. “It put VitalConnect in the conversation around how to monitor patients remotely from the hospital setting, whether that be COVID or otherwise.”
Welkin Health Launches the First Dedicated Care Management Platform for Healthcare Professionals
Apr 07, 2021 01:25 AM PDT
San Francisco, CA, April 7, 2021 – As virtual care delivery models are projected to increase substantially over the next two decades, Welkin Health, the San Francisco-based digital health platform, today announced the release of its new digital care management platform designed for preventive, chronic and follow-up care.
Developed for care teams with virtual, in-person and hybrid care models, the Welkin platform securely combines clinical workflows, HIPAA-compliant communications, and the ability to independently design and deploy customized care programs without a developer’s support. The rollout comes at a time when industry experts are projecting that 25 percent of outpatient, preventive, and long-term care will be virtual by 2040. 75 percent estimate budget increases of more than 25 percent to facilitate virtual health in the next decade.
“The pandemic made it clear to all that telehealth is a viable, sustainable model for delivering excellent patient care,” said Michelle Pampin. “But as we plan for a post-pandemic healthcare landscape, providers will need care management technology with the flexibility to drive positive patient outcomes via virtual and in-person care. That’s what we’re delivering today.”
The new platform brings together a feature set that gives providers control with tools to design programs for their team members, deliver a holistic care program, and subsequently analyze program efficacy. These features include:
Patient profile | Patient information is organized and displayed according to care program requirements. It can include demographics, clinical summaries, historical clinical data, patient engagement and communication preferences. |
Clinical workflows | Scoring assessments, clinical notes, trending data, care plans, lab ordering and results, and electronic prescribing |
Therapy types | Supports individual, group or relationship types |
Communications center | Native and integrated voice, video, secure email and SMS — plus HIPAA-compliant, in-app chat messaging |
Document management | Integrated e-signing for HIPAA waivers and consent forms that auto-store within the patient profile |
Tasks and notifications | Define your program with tasks and notifications to overcome alert fatigue and drive more actionable behavior. Notifications can be triggered to notify care team members during off-hours via email and SMS. |
Automation | Create rules and conditions which use trigger events to automate communication, task creation, and scheduling follow ups, to increase efficiencies and reduce workload |
Security and compliance |
|
Offline mode | Allows access to patient information while in the field in low bandwidth environments, and synchronizes updates once back online |
“We wanted to put control into our providers’ hands” said Dima Limonov, Vice President of Engineering at Welkin. “Each practice is different and it’s not a ‘one size fits all’ approach to patient care. With Welkin we have put the necessary tools in place for them to make those choices — so they can truly focus on wellness.”

Activ Surgical Granted Third U.S. Patent for ActivSight™ Imaging Module - Activ Surgical
Author: Tom Calef, CTO, Activ Surgical
Today marks yet another milestone in Activ Surgical’s history as we announce that the company was issued its third patent from the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) for our ActivSightTM interoperable imaging module. The ActivSight module is designed to interface with existing vision systems to enable surgeons to view in real-time critical physiological structures and functions, like blood flow, that cannot be seen with the naked eye while in the operating room.
Our first U.S. patent for the ActivSight imaging module was issued in March of 2021, with a second patent granted in November 2021. This third patent – U.S. Patent No. 11,206,991 – was issued in December 2021 and protects our proprietary system and methods for processing laser speckle signals, which are currently delivered via the ActivSight module. This patent protects our intellectual property that provides intraoperative visual data and images on blood flow and perfusion not currently available to surgeons through existing technologies. The three patents are mission-critical for Activ Surgical and bring us one step closer to our goal of enhancing patient outcomes and democratizing surgical care around the world. I am incredibly proud of our staff, particularly the inventors of this technology, John Oberlin and Manny DeMaio. As a company, we have many patents pending for our inventions worldwide, which cements our position as a disruptor in the digital surgery space. Stay tuned for more news from Activ Surgical as we march towards commercial availability of the ActivSight module later this year.
